NOTES
Notes
while an angel approaches from the left, divided from her by a little encircled by a scroll, above them appears, God the Father holding an orb, 17 in. by 10 in.; to the left a further panel of a bishop standing with crozier and mitre held in front of him, 17 in.; both panels with traces of paint and set beneath open work Gothic alabaster canopies, including frame 33 in. high by 21 in. wide, 15th Century. These panels probably once formed the left hand wing of some such altarpiece as that in the Victoria and Albert Museum illustrated in the 1925 Picture book of English Alabaster Carvings in the Victoria and Albert Museum, pls. 4-5.
